Maybe you have been invited to a black tie event and have no extra cash to buy the ideal outfit for the event or maybe you just have no intention in spending money on clothes and accessories that you will never use again in the future. It takes resourceful ingenuity and good planning to take that basic everyday look and make it look spectacular.
Here you will find some time proven suggestions to look amazing in every situation.
1. Choose with finesse your outfit
Always have in your closet a dress that is more formal than a simple blouse and skirt and skirts are more formal than pants. Also, when choosing the outfit, choose items that are straight lined, made from simple cuts that center on the quality of material used.
2. Make colors the focal point
If you are going to use a two-piece, it is best if you combine two different colors over wearing a monotone colored outfit, mostly because the two-piece will have slightly different shades on each piece, making it almost impossible combine.
3. Avoid black
It is true this is a very forgiving and elegant tone, but the same outfit, but in other colors such as blue, grey or brown tones will be more original. Plus, you will look like you are someone who goes the extra mile.
4. Take advantage of shoes’ magical touch
A style that never goes out of style: A high-heel with a pointed tips, because the heel will lengthen your legs and give you a more sexier look. Choose shoes that are closed in around the toes, as this will make you look more formal and put together.
5. Pay attention to your hair
A neat and tidy hairstyle says so much more about you than a simple brushing or a straightening your hair with a flat iron. One last minute option: with clean hair, brushed upwards to give it that extra volume, tying it into a ponytail, hiding the band by wrapping a piece of hair around it. You can pin up any loose hairs with bobby pins. A touch of hairspray will be your ally. Braids using all of your hair or just a part are a foolproof style that never goes out of style.
6. Find perfect balance
Just as with all aspects of life, one of the basic rules is to avoid going overboard. One of the most common mistakes that we make is trying to wear ‘everything”: shiniest, the highest heels, a tight dress and more. We need to do exactly the opposite, by choosing a mix of pieces that work together and match, leaving us looking our best. Less is more!
7. Makeup can make the difference
Makeup is a needed complement for any nighttime event. But certain criteria are needed. A suggestion: Avoid wearing super intense eye makeup with boldly colored lipstick. In other words, it is fine to wear a smoky eye look, always when you use a more neutral lipstick, such as a nude color. Wear a red lipstick, when you are wearing lighter toned mascara. The idea of makeup is never to look like we are wearing makeup.
8. Try mixing up newer styles with older ones
A retro style such as mini skirts, shorts, tops, buccaneers and high heels (especially if you are past the age of adolescence). The idea is to switch up the more relaxed look with a fashionable one, by combining styles. Example, a pair of opaque black shoes and a mini skirt or short-shorts with fleecy sweater.
9. Change your bag
These days everything is about using big bulky purses that can hold everything, but at nighttime, it is preferable to use a smaller handbag. Maybe one with a chained strap or clutch is the best choice. You will look put-together, especially if you combine it with the rest of your outfit.
These simple tips will have you looking fabulous without spending too much money and time. What do you think?
