Learn how to care for your lips so they don’t become dried out, and thus, leaving them looking lush and beautiful despite the inclement weather.
Our lips’ skin is very delicate and fine, for this reason, when the temperature drops they often become “chapped and cracked”. To prevent this happening and to have healthy lips year round, here are some helpful hints about how to care for your lips and be ready:
Increase your vitamin C intake
Choose foods that are rich in these nutrients because they increase your body hydration and of course, help to prevent your lips from becoming chapped. It will also help to fortify your immune system and prevent you from getting the common cold that is prevalent this time of year.
Stay away from artificial heating systems
During the colder months, we look for warmth inside but artificial warm (and cold) air can damage your lips. Try avoid being in these types of places or at least limit your exposure to this type of air.
Use a nutritive chap stick
In caring for your lips during this season, make sure to always have with you a chap stick. Choose one that has ingredients such as, fruit oils that will help with deep penetration and hydration and a splash of color. This is all you need to survive this winter!
Apply a lip moisturizer
Just as we apply moisturizer to our face, we should do the same with our lips. Apply at least once a week a hydrating moisturizer designed for lips. You can find different types of creams and patches. Choose your favorite!
Don’t lick your lips
If your lips are dry, chapped and cracked, then avoid licking your lips to moisturize them or pulling off any dry pieces, as this will worsen your situation. The best solution is to drink lots of water, apply your chap stick and moisturizer as often as needed, until your lips have healed.
